Windows XP Continuing To Outsell Vista
Dell, Microsoft and tech blogs and sites made a big deal out of Windows XP’s supposed demise when the PC maker announced that it would stop selling/bundling the OS last June. Yeah, we jumped on that bandwagon too, but the “supposed demise” hasn’t happened yet and Vista’s predecessor is still alive and kicking. This time, the news come from the competition: HP.
While Microsoft excitedly tries to sway public opinion by touting that Windows Vista License sales top 180 Million units, Hewlett-Packard (HP) was busy smacking Microsoft down — reportedly shipping PCs with a Vista Business license but with Windows XP pre-loaded in the majority of business computers sold since the June 30 Windows XP execution date established by Microsoft — casting a lot of doubt over how many copies of Vista have actually been sold.
Maybe at some point in the future we’ll actually hear something positive about Windows Vista that won’t be refuted later on. Microsoft is clearly trying to make its latest OS more marketable, but just like Vista itself, none of what its doing is working.
