Windows 7 Out in 2009. Or 2010.

If there’s one thing that’s confusing about Windows 7, then it has to be its release date. I read somewhere that it was going to be out by next year. I then heard news that it was actually a 2010 release. Now, I’m looking at a 2009 prediction again, so at this point, I don’t know what gives. Anyway, here’s the report.

Last month, after Microsoft announced that it would hand out alpha versions of Windows 7 at both WinHEC and its Professional Developers Conference (PDC), scheduled for next week, Michael Cherry, an analyst at Directions on Microsoft, said that it was a good, though not sure, bet that the company is on track for a late 2009 or early 2010 launch.

Okay, so now I’m seeing double. Regardless of when it’s actually going to be out, the message here is that it’s going to be released early. That should spare some of us the pain of having to “upgrade” to Vista.
