Toshiba Says Mine Is Bigger Than Yours

toshiba-gigabeatv.jpg

The Toshiba Gigabeat V will give you a bigger screen in exchange for a compromise in portability. There’s actually more to it than that but maybe it’s enough for you to decide whether you want to hear more about it. In contrast, the Gigabeat V is “4.9 x 2.97 x 0.94 compared with the 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.55 of the biggest iPod.” Toshiba has a 4-inch 480 x 272 screen, bigger than the 2.5-inch 320 x 240 display of the iPod. Arguably the ultimate price you have to pay for all that bulk is the weight: 0.5 lbs. I know that carrying half a pound of tech gear isn’t exactly a spine-breaker, but it’s certainly heavy by today’s standards.

The Toshiba Gigabeat V401 comes in white, black and brown and is available in 40GB. The Gigabeat V801 comes only in black and white but carries 80GB.
