Taking The Army Out Of The Knife

peace_knife4.jpg

The Swiss Army Knife is one of the most recognizable objects in the world. With its red paint and white cross emblem, it’s become a symbol of ingenuity and resourcefulness globally. Of course, the TV show MacGyver contributed a lot to its popularity. Without mechanical or electronic parts, it’s hard to classify the Swiss Army Knife as a gadget, but ignoring it would be like ignoring LEGO as well. Both are not devices by definition, but they’ve certainly influenced the ones we use today.

Here’s a design concept that’s for the pacifist in you. The Swiss Peace Knife removes the word “Army” and replaces the standard tools with ones that appeal to more peaceful pursuits. Instead of knives and screwdrivers, it has a pill box, bandages, a whistle and a disinfectant spray. It’s perfect for those minor emergencies that require quick attention.
