Slashdot Users On Making Netbooks More Manly
![]()
Netbooks are known for their portability and convenience. It took a while before they caught on, but the ASUS EEE paved the way and made them part of modern computing. However, a recent question at Slashdot raised an interesting concern: how does one make a netbook more manly?
You may not think of it as much of an issue, but it’s easy to imagine how a guy can find them less than masculine. We live in an age where geeks are accepted instead of loathed (which can’t be said for nerds), so they come in all shapes and sizes. What if you were six-foot-something and weighed over two hundred pounds? A netbook would look like a child’s toy in your hands. Without giving out a personal description except that he’s using a white MSI Wind, here’s the situation:
“I get a lot of comments from women saying it is ‘cute’ or ‘adorable.’ Not the good kind of cute that will get me the attention I want though, the kind of cute that says they think I have a different presence than I actually want to portray. So how can I make my netbook more manly, or at least have some witty line to respond to the their comments?”
The answers are range from putting “heavy metal stickers” to “you should use it to meet more women”. The ensuing replies are both thoughtful and funny at the same time. It’s a worthwhile read. At the very least, it will let you know what truck nuts are.
