Self-Propelled Luggage Carries Its Own Weight
Frequent fliers who want to save their muscles from the stress of hauling luggage are going to like this self-propelled suitcase from Hammacher Schlemmer. Just tilt it to the right angle and watch it kick into into high gear.
The electric motor engages when you tilt your suitcase between 15 and 35 degrees, transferring 85% of the weight onto the wheels and off of your arm. Each charge lasts 2 1/4 hours and can be taken up to 1 3/4 miles.
The downside? It will set you back $1,300 USD, making it practical only for those who travel professionally (or travel as part of their profession, if you prefer that). What’s ironic about it is that it costs an arm to save your arm. Also, is it just me or is this product missing a name?
