Search Engines On Trial In Canada?

Writers often use the word “storm” to convey great change, to mark some event that triggers a great change. In that sense, a storm is definitely building in Canada as a court case in British Columbia involving search engine isoHunt could end up affecting Google and Yahoo! as well.
The question before the British Columbia Supreme Court is if a site such as isoHunt allows people to find a pirated copy of movies such as Watchmen or The Dark Knight, is it breaching Canadian copyright law?
And since isoHunt is a search engine, other websites that fall under that category are affected as well. If one can search and find copyrighted material with isoHunt, the same can be done using Google and Yahoo! The outcome of this case has the possibility of drastically changing how the Internet is used and accessed in Canada.
