Samsung Sings With YP-K5 and Rumours Of ‘Nano-Killer’ YP-K3

yp_k3_samsung.jpgWith so much attention being focused on Apple’s iPod line of MP3 players and the newly minted Microsoft Zune, it’s easy to lose sight of some of the other players in the market. Samsung recently launched the innovative YP-K5 music player in September. Not only does it sport good looks, but it’s unique built-in slide-out speakers are a genuine ‘first’ for a portable MP3 player of that size.

However, no sooner did the YP-K5 (Samsung really needs to remove ‘product naming’ from their accounting department’s list of responsibilities) hit the market did rumours begin swirling of a new, slimmer sibling called the YP-K3 which some have already dubbed as the ‘iPod Nano Killer’. GenerationMP3 has some new spy pics of the YP-K3 being fondled. Still very little is known of a launch date, price or hard specs, but it’s existence is all but confirmed. One thing we do know is that it’s almost credit-card thin, and the YP-K3 won’t have pull out speakers, but an FM tuner and a gorgeously bright OLED 1.8″ screen are very much on the docket of features it does have. Samsung is on the move in this market, and these players are definitely ones to keep an eye on. The YP-K5 retails for $209.99 USD (2GB) and $259.99 USD (4GB).
