Reviews: HTC Shift
BGR has a review of the HTC Shift. I can almost hear the collective cries of “Finally!” from where I am, considering how long and how much this device has been previewed. Does it meet expectations, or are we in for another technological dud? Here are some of the pros:
- The speakers are very, very good.
- The screen is pretty good but not perfect. It looks good and is very responsive when using it as a touch screen or tablet
- While the specs might look pretty poor on paper, that shouldn’t be an automatic turn off. Try it before you buy it. More than likely you’ll be impressed.
And the cons:
- There’s no back-light on the keyboard. While this might not be a huge issue for some people, it really is incredibly difficult to see the keyboard in low-light conditions
- On the SnapVue (Windows Mobile-ish) side, email works great. But, you can’t open any attachments! Nothing! No Word, PowerPoint, MP3s, pictures, etc.
- Battery life is fair. But at least it is exactly what HTC stated. 2 hours. No more, no less in Vista.
You can read the full review via the source link. Overall, it’s an impressive device with a lot of potential, and that’s your keyword right there: potential. It has plenty of things going for it, and even BGR goes on to say that all is well in the HTC Shift world. So, granted that HTC works on improving the Shift via hardware and software updates then it’s fair to say that it does meet the hype. Starting price will hit you for $1600-$1800 USD.
