Review: Dell Inspiron 910
We’ve been keeping an eye on the Dell netbook for quite some time now so it’s good to see the reviews coming in. Here’s what one had to say:
The good: More configurable than other Netbooks; good battery life; XP and Linux OS options.
The bad: Some awkward keyboard compromises; no SSD options larger than 16GB.
The bottom line: Dell’s entry into the Netbook market means it’s time to take these low-cost, low-power PCs seriously. The Inspiron Mini 9 is an excellent example of the form, if not radically different from the competition.
So while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it remains to be a serious contender. And yes, the reviewer is correct in placing emphasis on the fact that this is a Dell product, which means that the hardware maker recognizes the existence of the UMPC market. If you’re still in between the question whether netbooks are a trend or not, ask no more. At this point, it’s safe to say that they’re here to stay.
