PS3 & Wii Get Dedicated Channels On YouTube

Viewing YouTube just got easier if you happen to own a Wii or a PS3. The popular video site has unveiled dedicated channels to the two consoles, making watching clips from them easier and more convenient. Of course, comparisons are inevitable and it looks like the Wii is emerging as the early winner.

The Opera browser for the Wii is already getting raves from users for its visual similarity to Wii Channels. The six-window arrangement makes it easy to find videos of interest, and when you blow up a video to perfectly fit a full-screen, it correctly behaves like a regular desktop browser. The regular internet Wii browser sometimes forced full-screen videos of the TV screen, which was annoying.

On the other hand, the PS3 YouTube channel is said to be slow, which isn’t anything new, apparently. This is the same thing that users experienced prior to the dedicated channels, so whatever problems it had before were simply carried over. On a positive note, the PS3 does have an advantage over the Xbox 360 because it doesn’t have a dedicated channel. A little Microsoft vs. Google thing going on maybe?
