Multiple Windows 7 Versions Confirmed

It’s official. Microsoft has announced that Windows 7 will be available in multiple versions, just like Vista. Has the software giant refused to learn a lesson from the confusion caused by its current operating system? Apparently not, but maybe there’s a silver lining there somewhere.
Microsoft says that, unlike Vista, every higher edition SKU will include all the features of lower editions. This wasn’t the case in Vista, where Home Premium included Media Center but Business did not.
That’s good news. The different versions will be Starter Edition, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate. Marketing will focus promotions on Home Premium and Professional, the expected versions that most users will purchase.
Will this revised approach to the multiple version scheme improve sales? We can only guess, but at least Microsoft is changing things a bit. Did you hear that? I think I heard a Mac user laughing somewhere.
