Minoru To Take Webcams To 3D

Webcams and webcam technology has been a staple of online communications for a couple of years now. If you want to take the imagery to the next level, you’re going to need Minoru, a new device that’s going to bring the magic of 3D to your computer. Here’s how:

The attractive red webcam, Minoru, requires special 3D glasses to view the feed from two cameras spaced roughly the same distance apart as the human eye. Images from the two cameras are mixed together to create the 3D effect.

I know, I know, it’s not going to do the 3D thing without the glasses, but hey, that’s how they do it in the movies, right? Minoru is going to make its debut at the Consumer Electronics Association show later this week so give it a look if you’re attending. It will be available on Amazon.com for $90 USD. Don’t worry. If you think the glasses are goofy, you can still use it as an ordinary webcam.
