Microsoft Planning A Home Version Of The Surface Computer?

microsoft_surface.jpg

Microsoft is looking to bring the Surface closer to home. Last we heard, it was priced at an amount most users would not be able to buy. The folks are Redmond are now reported to be considering bringing the multi-touch tabletop experience to consumers everywhere.

Microsoft recently sent out a marketing survey for a horizontal multitouch computing device codenamed Oahu (which appropriately translates to “The Gathering Place”). Oahu is likely to be consumer version of the Microsoft Surface, and Microsoft is currently estimating that such a device would set a family back $1,500.

$1,500? That’s the price of a high end desktop, right? It’s definitely better than the 5-digit price tag of the original. Of course, this is only a survey, so try not to get too excited.
