Microsoft Drafts Windows 7 Upgrade Plan

Microsoft is going to come up with an upgrade plan for Windows 7 and the draft is already out. It’s intended to make it easier for users to migrate to the latest operating system when it comes out. But is everyone eligible for it? Read on.
End users must purchase a new PC that is pre-installed with an eligible Windows Vista Operating System (OS), during the program eligibility window.
The PC must have a valid Certificate of Authenticity (COA) attached.
Those of you who bought Vista Home Premium, Business and Ultimate are qualified for the upgrade. The equivalent Windows 7 version will be installed in return, so Vista Home Premium will get Windows 7 Home Premium, etc. The others, such as Vista Home Basic and Starter, are not eligible. And in case you’re wondering, Windows XP didn’t make the cut too. You didn’t really expect that to happen, did you?
The program only covers consumer and SOHO customers. Medium and enterprise bodies are to consult the “appropriate Microsoft Volume Licensing program” to check the options for upgrading.
