Linux To Emulate Mac VS PC Ads
“I’m a Mac. I’m a PC.” You’ve seen the commercials featuring Justin Long as the cool and hip incarnation of the Mac and John Hodgman as the less appealing representation of the PC. Although the ads were a bit misleading, especially regarding the PC side of things, they were popular and funny.
It looks like Linux is looking to use the same pattern to promote itself. The Linux Foundation is conducting a video contest that focuses on “just what Linux means to those who use it, and hopefully inspires many to try it.”
The winner of the I’m Linux contest will receive a free (as in beer) trip to Tokyo to participate in the Linux Foundation Japan Linux Symposium in October 2009. The winning video will be screened at the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit in San Francisco on April 8, 2009.
So gather your friends, prepare your lines and make your best operating system impersonation ever. It’s time to present Linux front and center, people. Make it proud. If you don’t end up doing so, try to have a good laugh at least.
