Lasers Finally Become Weapons
Let me ask you this: what is the most prominent weapon in science fiction? Your answer is likely going to be a laser. Those colored beams of light have been a staple of countless movies and TV shows even though we’ve yet to see one designed to be an actual weapon. That’s all going to change with the Firestrike. Here’s the lowdown:
The FIRESTRIKE(tm) laser is a line replaceable system that allows for scaling a laser weapon to desired power levels for specific warfighting applications and platforms. Northrop Grumman believes that FIRESTRIKE(tm) laser will form the backbone of future laser weapon systems.
I’m already looking forward to the TV special that is going to feature this. What TV special? I don’t know, but “lasers as weapons” is bound to be too tempting to resist, right? I’d like to see footage of this system in action.
