LaCie Goes Big & Bold With Portable Storage

hd_2bignetwork.jpg

The LaCie 2big Dual is not going to score points for subtlety, but if you need serious portable storage, then it can provide that in spades. First of all, it supports almost every hard drive configuration you can think of. Second, it isn’t kidding with the name. It really seems too big.

Designed by Neil Poulton, the drive, though big and rugged, has an elegant industrial look with aluminum casing and a removable base for the vertical position.

The drive comes with eSATA and USB 2.0 connections and six RAID-based setups for hard drives that can be easily set with the switch on the back of the device.

It offers 1tb, 1.5tb and 2tb worth of storage at $319.99, $399.99 and $529.99 respectively. You can hit the product page for more details or look at the source for additional information. I have this gut feeling that the design is going to be hit or miss for some. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a hit for me, but I don’t think everyone’s going to like it.
