iPhone 3G Power Adapter Recall

Were you one of the lucky few Canadians to pick up an iPhone 3G when they were released earlier this summer? Then you may want to read this, lest your house burn down;

Apple has determined that under certain conditions the new ultracompact Apple USB power adapter’s metal prongs can break off and remain in a power outlet, creating a risk of electric shock. We have received reports of detached blades involving a very small percentage of the adapters sold, but no injuries have been reported

It should go without saying that you should stop using this immediately. Starting October 10th you can order a replacement through the Apple website or swap it out in person at any Apple Store. In the meantime, just charge it with the USB cable. It may not be convenient, but at least it’s safe.
