HP Mini-Note Laptop To Take On Asus EEE

hp_mininote.jpg

ThinkGeek and HP are taking a page out of the Asus playbook by selling a mini-laptop of their own. The HP Mini-Note 8.9″ Aluminum Laptop sports “a high-res 8.9″ 1280 x 768 display, a 120 GB hard drive, 92% of full-size keyboard and all-aluminum case”. Just to spice things up a bit, it’s even compared to the Macbook Pro. Product features are as follows:

* Full-function PC with utmost mobility and durable all-aluminum case
* Ultra-portable light-weight design: 2.6 lb (1.19 kg) and 1.05 in (27 mm) thin at front
* 8.9-inch diagonal 1280 x 768 WXGA scratch-resistant display
* 92% full-size QWERTY keyboard and touchpad
* 802.11 a/b/g wireless LAN, HP Wireless Assistant
* 120 GB 5400 rpm hard drive
* Integrated VGA Webcam
* ExpressCard/54 slot
* Secure Digital slot for HCSD and MMC media cards
* 1GB of installed RAM, Upgradeable up to 2GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

You can install Linux or Vista as your operating system. Sadly, Windows XP is not an option since no compatible drivers are available. Of course, if this thing gets traction sales-wise, I’m pretty sure someone’s going to come up with homegrown drivers just to address the issue.
