How To Get Windows XP After The Deadline
It’s fair to say that a great number of PC users aren’t looking forward to what Microsoft is forcing them to do: upgrade to Windows Vista. Wired’s How-To wiki shows us how we can get a copy of Windows XP when it goes. Sure, you might be using it now and therefore don’t need a copy, but what if you’re forced to reinstall your OS for whatever reason? What then? Better safe than sorry, folks.
On June 30, 2008, Microsoft pulled the plug on Windows XP. That’s the last day Windows XP was officially available for purchase from retail outlets, major resellers and OEM hardware manufacturers. But that doesn’t mean the operating system is going to go quietly. Many consumers would still rather run XP than Vista, and there are several loopholes in Microsoft’s supply chain that let you get a copy of XP if you really want one.
Head over to the source link for the suggestions and recommendations. It’s wishful thinking, but I hope I’ll be able to use Windows XP until Windows 7 comes along.
