Google Wants To Help Stop Embarrassing Email

Have you ever sent something you know you shouldn’t have? Like that playful email with the inappropriate attachment, or the loving text message to the wrong person? The situations are funny when you think about it, but they’re certainly not the sort of event that you want to happen to you.

Google is going to try to save you from the potential embarrassment with a new feature called Mail Goggles. It’s essentially a checkpoint that you have to pass in order to send the email. With this enabled, you shouldn’t have to worry about accidentally clicking the send button.

When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you’re really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you’re in the right state of mind?

I just hope it doesn’t throw math problems at me that I can’t solve even with the right state of mind. I wonder if Google has a Labs feature that can help with that.
