Google Enables Multiple Inboxes For Gmail

Google’s on a roll. First there was the improved labels for Gmail, then came Latitude for mobile tracking. Now, it’s announcing that multiple inboxes are available for Gmail. It sounds great, but what would you need that for, right? Before you get excited, it’s not what you think. You won’t be importing your Yahoo mail into Gmail yet. The new feature is still related to labeling.

If you’re using multiple labels for different messages, then Gmail is probably filtering them faster than you can read them. The multiple inbox feature will let you view different folders in one screen, if you can fit them.

Go to Labs and then enable Multiple Inboxes to start using the feature. You can configure several things like what you’re viewing, number of messages displayed and positioning. If labels and folders play a big part in your email, give it a whirl.
