Google Adds PDF Viewing In Gmail
Document writers will tell you that PDFs are very handy. It’s a widely-recognized format that has become the de facto standard for written technical solutions, manuals and even promotional material. Unfortunately, they’re quite a hassle to open. Every time you click on a PDF link online there’s a delay before the document opens in Adobe Acrobat Reader. I use an alternate PDF reader, but I still have to download the file before I can open it.
If you share the same sentiments then maybe Google can help. PDF attachments in Gmail are now viewable directly from your browser.
Clicking “View” quickly opens the PDF inside your browser, complete with the graphics and formatting you expect to see in a PDF. You may have seen this feature before, in Google Docs. It’s the way that we did uploading and viewing of PDFs online.
Of course, you can still choose to view the file in HTML and the download option remains. I suggest you send yourself a PDF attachment and see if it works to your liking.
