Going Even Smaller: IMOVIO Launches The iKit

It took a while to establish a foothold, but we’ve seen enough models out there to say that netbooks are here to stay. The market is relatively still in its infancy, but at least one exists. If you had asked me last year if I saw a future for the pint-sized devices, I would’ve said no.

Netbooks are apparently not the smallest sub-laptops out there. IMOVIO is launching the iKit, a “dedicated chat, email and internet accessory”. Here are the details:

The iKIT is a Pocket Mobile Companion that at 95mm by 65mm and only 15.5mm high is as portable as a mobile phone. Yet the WiFi enabled device comes with a full QWERTY/AZERTY keyboard, an 8GB SD card slot, a 2.8 inch QVGA display and an option to convert the USB for use with an HSDPA dongle, making it a fully functional communicating and browsing device and a viable substitute for a laptop.

Head to the press release for the full details. Will the iKit spark a shift to even smaller devices? Will we see similar portable devices dedicated to Internet use?
