Gates On Microsoft-Yahoo: MS To Adopt Independent Strategy

In the aftermath of the Microsoft-Yahoo! debacle, one man stood up to speak about the direction that Microsoft is taking. That man is Bill Gates. Apparently, the ruckus was enough to pull him away from his philanthropic efforts and shift his focus back to Microsoft. How long and how intense this shift will be is yet to be determined, but for now, he’s here. Excerpts:

He said in Tokyo that the company put “a lot of effort” in the talks with Yahoo and has decided the two should pursue “independent paths.”

“Now at this point Microsoft is focused on its independent strategy,” Gates told reporters at a news conference in Tokyo.

We’ll be keeping tabs on this independent strategy that Microsoft is adopting.
