Don’t Steal a Laptop with Skype
Here is an interesting story from Skype’s website about Skype helping to catch a thief.
We’ve always known that Skype users were smart, but we’d never heard of anyone using Skype and a bit of old-fashioned ingenuity to fool a computer thief—until today, that is. “Someone broke into my house and stole my laptop,” explains one intrepid user. “I always have Skype online on the laptop. I downloaded Skype onto my other PC, made a new account, and sent a chat request to my original account—and talked to the burglar. We set up a meeting, and I went with the police and caught the guy, thanks to Skype!”
A word to the wise: when it comes to free calls with Skype, crime certainly does not pay.
I can’t believe how dumb the criminal is, you set up a meeting with the person you stole the laptop from? Wow… I am speechless. I am glad to hear though that Skype was the tool used to catch the thief though. It just goes to show how useful the application can be.
