Dell UMPC Under Development

Dell is working on UMPCs of its own. The funny thing is that it probably didn’t plan on making an announcement this early, but in the age of blogging, nothing seems to be secret anymore. A UMPC-sized device was spotted in the arms of none other than Michael Dell himself, fueling speculation regarding its purpose.

Dell Inc. released pictures of an ultraportable laptop that appears to be designed to compete against Hewlett-Packard Co.’s Mini-Note 2133 laptop, after Michael Dell was spotted carrying it around.

The unidentified laptop was seen being carried by Dell, the company’s CEO, at the D: All Things Digital (D6) conference, organized by The Wall Street Journal.

Details are not available yet, but with Dell manufacturing UMPCs of its own, its rivals are very likely going to follow. If they don’t, you can be sure they’ll keep a very close eye on it anyway.
