Dell To Install XP After Selling Vista PCs
If you missed yesterday’s post, which means you probably missed the deadline too, don’t lost hope just yet. In case you’re still not ready to use Windows Vista, you can still use Windows XP in your Dell computer—for a fee, of course. It will sell you a Vista PC, then install XP on it instead, leaving the Vista installation CD with you in case you decide to upgrade in the future.
Then they toss the copy of Vista you’ve already paid for into the box, so you can install it when you’re ready to take the big plunge. This’ll add between $50 and $100 to your purchase price, depending on which version of noninstalled Vista you get.
Of course, if you think you’re going to upgrade to Vista anyway, make sure you’re familiar with the process. After all, the installation CD you’ll be paying for is only going to be worth it if you’re actually going to use it.
