Dell Marks June 18 As Last Day For XP OEM

Time is running out for Windows XP. Dell has announced that June 18 will be the last day that it will release desktops and laptops loaded with XP as the operating system, so if you still prefer that over Vista, now’s the time to get a computer.

Per the Microsoft Windows life-cycle policy, direct OEM and retail license availability for Windows XP will end-of-life (EOL) on June 30, 2008. To meet Microsoft’s June 30 last-day-to-ship OEM Windows XP deadline, June 18 is the last time to purchase a Dell laptop, desktop, or workstation with an OEM Windows XP license (or while supplies last).

All good things come to an end, and while I know that some of you disagree with me regarding XP being a “good” OS, consider the alternative: Vista. Considering its track record, I’m already dreading the day when I’ll be forced to upgrade.
