Concept Tablet Device Tells You About Your World

I usually don’t post anything about patents and concepts because I’m more interested in the bottom line. They’re ideas, after all, and while some of them are very good, I want to see a beta version at least, just to see it in action. It also lets me know that the idea wasn’t scrapped, that it’s actually making some progress into becoming a manufactured product.

I’m going to deviate from that rule for now because this concept, dubbed by Yanko Design as The Looking Glass, is simply amazing. It’s a transparent tablet that you can align onto the real world and look up whatever you have in the frame. By integrating a camera, scanner and GPS then combining it with the Internet, Wikipedia, Google and other online resources, you can search for any information you need, whether it’s a building, a car, a word, a street sign, etc. The sky’s the limit, and you can look up information about that too.

You can check out the designer’s web page for more concepts. This is interesting technology. I’m already wondering who’s going to pick it up.
