ASUS Brings EEE To The Desktop
ASUS is bringing the EEE brand to the desktop with the EEE Top. While it’s not as bulky as a standard desktop computer, it’s still too large to match the portability of its netbook namesake. Here are the details:
This all in one unit features 15.9-inch touchscreen, Microsoft Windows XP and a 1.6GHz Atom along with sleep styling and some interesting surprises, such as what is apparently a Denon sound system if one can read the logos right. Two versions of the Eee top are currently being touted by Asus, the ET1603 and the ET1602.
The ET1603 is equipped with a battery, supporting the idea of a portable desktop. It’s light enough to be moved around, but not enough to go great distances. There’s no word on availability or pricing yet, but from a marketing standpoint, isn’t there a risk of creating confusion over the use of the EEE name? People attach it to netbooks now, so why bring a pseudo-desktop in the mix?
