Are Netbooks Security Problems?
We’ve already established that netbooks are here to stay. It took a while, but at least it’s safe to say that it’s a market that won’t be going away anytime soon. Like any other electronic device, netbooks are posing a problem to IT administrators due to their potential security risk.
But another characteristic of the new portable pipsqueaks is striking fear into the hearts of a growing number of IT managers: security weaknesses that are directly attributable to the machines’ diminished technology.
To keep up with their small size, netbooks usually run on minimal hardware. You have enough power to use office applications and web browsing but there’s little room to do anything else. This kind of hardware limits what software you can run on the system and that can be a problem. Will antivirus software run on your netbook? Are there even antivirus programs for Linux-based ultraportables? How secure are they? Those are the questions that IT admins are asking. If you want to know more, head to the link below.
