Apple & Nike Working On More Integrated Features

Although all iPods are designed to be portable media players, there are several models that are easier to carry around than others. For example, the iPod Touch requires more effort because you would need two hands to operate it: one hand to hold it steady and another to flick through it. It’s not the ideal model to bring when you’re going to go jogging or perform some other physical activity.

Apple and Nike both want to change that. Instead of reaching for the more convenient Nano, you might want to go out with your iPhone instead. Why? Functionality. Check it out.

For people who are loyal fans of the Nike+iPod Sport Kit, you may be excited to hear that Apple and Nike hope to extend the functionality past the iPod nano. Mark Wilson at Stuff.tv has allegedly confirmed with Nike (at the Nike corporate headquarters, no less) that iPhone and iPod touch users will be able to take advantage of the little dongle that helps you track your running stats.

A personal workout meter integrated with the other features of the iPhone or the iPod Touch? Think of the possibilities! It will allow you to keep tabs on your stats, maybe even let you send the data over to a friend for some healthy competition.
