Apple Laptop Event Coverage

Well, the long wait is over. The Apple event, which we noted last week, is over. We’re in for a boatload of new MacBooks to choose from and, well, I don’t really know where to start.

First, there’s a new MacBook Pro, then there’s the MacBook. Apple has a new 24-inch LED display to salivate over and, last but not least, the MacBook Air gets an update. The only thing that’s truly new here (and certainly the most eye-catching, thanks to its size) is the display, so here are the details:

The new display looks deceptively thinner thanks to the aluminum iMac-inspired, tapered design, but it is actually slight thicker than the previous 23″ Cinema Display. But it is noticeably brighter thanks to the new LED backlighting, glossy glass cover, and black bezel. The old displays had a contrast range of 700:1, while the 24″ LED Cinema Display boasts a contrast ration of 1000:1.It still retains the 1920×1200 pixel resolution.
